This pillow cover features the "hus he" [hoos hay] bird design passed from mothers to daughters in the Ixil region through typical motifs of the traditional woven blouse (huipil) of San Juan Cotzal.
While origin stories are disputed, Ixil women nowadays point to designs such as the "hus he" design as a representation of living in harmony with nature.
