This special "Rebozo" or shall/carrying cloth from Cotzal has a brocaded panel on either side as well as intricate knotting to protect the edges from fraying. The grape (top and bottom) and flower motifs are both new motifs and a newer brocade style, whereas the bird with outstretched wings, the net (repeating Xs), and the basket motifs are all more typical. The background colors: red with black, white, teal green and purple stripes are a typical color palette for such rebozos from this town. It is common to see local women carrying this type of all-purpose cloth with them at all times. This particular rebozo is the perfect size and design to be used as a shawl, throw or even table runner. Rayon thread (processed cellulose) makes this cloth silky smooth.
